CAREER INFORMATION

Background
One of the strongest athletes to develop through the Canadian Luge Program, Meaghan continues to build confidence and experience sliding against the world's best athletes after her first trip to the Olympic Winter Games where she competed for Canada in Torino, Italy. Meaghan had a breakout performance in 2008 where she led the Canadian women and finished ninth at the World Championships in Oberhof, Germany. Powerful and explosive in the start handles, Meaghan regularly posts some of the fastest starting times on the international circuit, and continues to work on putting down two consistent runs. With 2010 in sight, Meaghan was introduced to her new favourite track in the world after taking her first training runs at the Whistler Sliding Centre in the spring of 2008. After a successful World Cup on the Whislter track in 2009, Meaghan looks forward to competing for Canada on the Whistler track at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Outside of luge, Meaghan is completing her political science degree at the University of Calgary, and likes to study current events, traveling, hiking, and other sports such as road-biking and tennis.
