Another Two Gold For Canada at Luge Junior World Cup #3

Canada Luge - Media ReleaseThe one-day weather delay didn't bother the Canadian Doubles Team of Grant Albrecht (Calgary) and Mike Moffat (Calgary) as they slid to their first doubles Gold medal in Junior World Cup Luge competition in Winterberg, Germany. Abrecht and Moffat were also on the podium last weekend in Sigulda, Latvia with a Bronze medal doubles finish.

Jeff Christie continued his golden medal sweep as he claimed his fourth Gold in four races in the Mens Junior 1 (under age 17) World Cup competition. Christie, a Grade 11 student at Bowness High School in Calgary, has won Gold in all Junior World Cup competitions this season and has sewn up overall first place for his age category.

In Junior 2 competition (under age 20), Calgary's Kyle Connelly placed 5th followed by Grant Albrecht in 9th spot and Mike Moffat in 10th. Canadian Junior Women, Regan Lauscher (Red Deer) and Nicole Simon (Calgary) also placed in the top 10 with a 5th and 9th place finish respectively.

Next stop for Canada's Junior Luge athletes will be Altenberg, Germany, for the Junior World Championships January 29 & 30, then they re-join the senior sliders for the Senior World Championships in St. Moritz, Switzerland, February 5 & 6.
