The Canadian National Junior and Senior Luge Teams for the 2000/2001 season will be presented at a media conference to be held:

Date:November 7, 2000
Location:Calgary International Airport
Calgary Airport Authority
Executive Lounge
Mezzanine Level Three
Time:4:30 p.m. (Team departs to Frankfurt at 6:00 pm)

In addition to the introduction of team members, representatives from CODA (Calgary Olympic Development Association) will comment on the recent partnership agreement now in place between CODA, the Calgary Luge Club, Alberta Luge Association, Canadian Luge Association and the National Sports Centre. This landmark agreement is expected to facilitate the training, technical research, administration and program development needed to take Luge athletes in Canada to the Olympic podium. As Canada's largest private funder of Winter Sport, CODA will contribute $300,000 this year to the sport of Luge as it has previously for the past two years.

Canada's Luge team enjoyed its greatest competition success ever in the 1999/2000 season with a total of 17 individual and team medals in Junior and Senior World Cup competition. Both the Senior and Junior teams have veterans and rising stars that are strong contenders for medals at this season's World Cup competition and qualifying for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City.

Following the media conference, the team will depart for Europe for six weeks of training and World Cup competition.
