Cheers to a New Partnership for Canada’s Luge Athletes

The Split Crow Pub in Halifax becomes first corporate partner in Eastern Canada for national program

CALGARY—Luge Canada is raising a glass to a historic new partnership with The Split Crow Pub, proudly recognized as “Nova Scotia’s Original Tavern.”

A landmark establishment in Halifax that has been serving locals and travelers from around the world for decades, The Split Crow Pub becomes the first corporation from Eastern Canada to support Luge Canada throughout its history.

“The Split Crow Pub has long served as a welcoming hub for both locals and international visitors, fostering a strong sense of community and shared experience,” The Split Crow Pub management said. “This commitment to connection is reflected in the pub’s new partnership with Luge Canada – a collaboration that brings together two organizations united by national pride and vibrant energy. Supporting Luge Canada’s athletes, who compete for Canadians on the world stage, aligns seamlessly with The Split Crow Pub’s dedication to celebrating the Canadian spirit, both in Halifax and beyond.”

Adding The Split Crow Pub to Luge Canada’s small pool of partners builds on last week’s announcement that three new corporations from the West Coast in Whistler, B.C. – Metronomics, Splash Hot Tubs, and Whistler Hardware – all agreed to step in with modest investments of their own to help fuel the drive for a new generation of Canadian luge athletes as part of the organization’s ongoing effort to build a nationwide network of community-minded supporters.

“We’re incredibly proud to welcome The Split Crow Pub as the first corporation from Eastern Canada to support Canada’s luge athletes,” said Tim Farstad, executive director, Luge Canada, who added this unique partnership highlights how regional companies are responding to the growing financial concerns expressed by Canada’s high-performance athletes and non-profit sport organizations. “At a time when our organization continues to navigate difficult financial realities, this partnership demonstrates a belief in our athletes and the goals we’re chasing as a program. It is also proof that every corporation, big or small, can play a small part in keeping this program strong regardless of what part of the country they do business, ensuring our young athletes have the opportunity to perform at their best on the world stage.”

These small but meaningful partnerships are vital, ensuring that Canada’s luge athletes have access to the resources they need, and deserve, to be fully prepared when they hit the start handles for international competitions.

Luge Canada is encouraging other small and mid-sized businesses across Canada to join the journey and take advantage of cost-effective partnership opportunities, while helping to support Canada’s luge athletes as they continue to pursue their performance goals at all levels of the development pathway.

“Community-driven partnerships like these are the backbone of our sport,” added Farstad. “Every contribution will help our athletes chase their dreams, represent Canada with pride, and inspire the next generation.”
