LUGE RECRUITMENT CAMPS SET FOR THIS WEEKEND IN BRITISH COLUMBIA

Canadian Luge Association looking for aspiring athletes while expanding program on west coastThe Canadian Luge Association (CLA) will be hosting two recruitment camps in Whistler and Pemberton, B.C. this weekend in an effort to recruit the next generation of high-performance luge athletes.

As the competitive season quickly approaches, the national association, in conjunction with B.C. Luge, will be evaluating interested, athletic youth, ages 10 to 14.

With a goal of expanding programming into the B.C. area, the aggressive summer recruitment initiative targets Canadian youth who demonstrate athletic ability to the sport. Athletes will receive an introduction to the sport of luge, and its equipment, prior to participating in a series of dry-land physical testing sessions to showcase agility, flexibility and all-around athletic ability. The day will culminate with a wheel sliding session to build a familiarity on the luge sled.

The luge community would like to invite all news and sports media to attend one of the recruitment camps in an effort to build a better understanding of the sport of luge, and gain a greater appreciation of the training and skill necessary for these sliding sport athletes.
