The Alberta Luge Association will be conducting a “NEW” Luge Officials course on January 12th – 13th, 2019 from 8:30am-4:30pm. (Participants will be required to attend both days)
The two-day course will be held at the National Sports School at Winsport. (151 Canada Olympic Rd SW, Calgary, AB T3B 6B7, first floor of the office tower)
Upon completing the course and achieving a passing grade on the exam you will have gained the following:
Course Objectives – Participants will have:
· Ability to navigate IRO Rule Book
· Good understanding of the IRO Rules as they relate to Start and Finish
· Basic to intermediate level of Rule interpretation
· Very good understanding of key Race leadership positions
· Clear understanding of the process to follow for informing of IRO rules infractions
· Basic to intermediate level of decision making
Once you are an accredited National level Luge official, you will be able to officiate at any races in either Calgary or Whistler.
We would then encourage you to volunteer to officiate at as many races as you can to utilize these new skills at the Provincial and National level. Please visit the ALA website for the Luge Race Schedule for the 2018-19 year.
The Cost of the course is $25.00, cheques can be made payable to the Alberta Luge Association or an E-transfer can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
Beverages and Snacks will be provided throughout the day. Lunch is NOT provided, but time will be allotted for everyone to grab something at the Winsport Cafeteria.

All officials must complete the update prior to any national or international luge races and it is highly recommended that you complete it prior to any provincial competitions so that you familiarize yourself with any rule changes that have been implemented since last season.
