Beattie Podulsky and Kailey Allan Post Second Straight Top Six World Cup Finish
Park City, Utah—Canada’s Beattie Podulsky and Kailey Allan continued their upward momentum on the Luge World Cup circuit, sliding to their second consecutive top six finish in women’s doubles racing at Park City, Utah.
Fresh off their season-best fifth place result last weekend in Winterberg, Germany, the Canadian women’s doubles team finished sixth with a combined time of 1:28.96 on the 2002 Olympic track.
“Overall, it was a really solid night for us,” said Podulsky. “The race itself was a blast, the sled felt good, and we were able to be competitive right from the start. There’s still plenty to clean up, but the progress has been really encouraging.”
Germany’s Dajana Eitberger claimed victory in the women’s doubles race – an event set to make its Olympic debut at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milano/Cortina – with a winning time of 1:27.140
Podulsky, 20, and Allan, 22, posted the sixth-fastest start times in both heats, showcasing their development amongst the world’s fastest feet-first sliders.
“Being able to back last week’s result up with top six finishes on completely different tracks on back-to-back weekends feels huge for us,” added Podulsky. “It shows we’re adapting quicker, communicating better, and not panicking when things aren’t perfect. We’re definitely feeling more confident and more in sync each race. It was awesome to have family and friends at the finish line cheering us on.”
Paired together last season as Luge Canada aimed at building program depth ahead of the 2026 Olympic Winter Games across all race disciplines, the duo has steadily climbed the ranks in a rapidly developing women’s doubles field.
The colourful Canadians made an immediate impact during their rookie season, capturing bronze at the U23 World Championships, finishing eighth at the senior World Championships, and anchoring Team Canada’s historic bronze-medal performance in the team relay at the same event.
Their Canadian teammates were also solid in Park City.
Three Canadian women competed in the women’s singles race held over the past two days.
Embyr-Lee Susko (Whistler, B.C.) led the Canadian contingent with a 14th-place finish in a time of 1:27.615. Caitlin Nash (Whistler, B.C.) recorded her season-best result, finishing 15th at 1:27.681, after posting the 14th-fastest run in both heats. Trinity Ellis (Pemberton, B.C.), the lone Olympian on the young Canadian Luge Team, placed 18th with a time of 1:27.790.
American Summer Britcher defended her home track to win gold in 1:26.961.
Two Canucks took to the ice in the men’s singles competition.
Cole Zajanski, who typically competes in doubles, earned a rare singles start while Devin Wardrope recovers from injury. Zajanski showcased his athleticism with strong start times, finishing 17th in 1:31.717. Calgary’s Theo Downey crashed in his first run and did not finish.
Austria’s Jonas Müller captured gold with a winning time of 1:29.640.
The Luge World Cup circuit now heads to Lake Placid, New York, for the final race before the holiday break.
